Welcome to Eurotrekken.com! This
site is undergoing a major revamp for 2009, and you will see a lot of
improvements over the coming weeks. We have been around for over
10
years bringing information about travel in Europe to backbackers and
budget travelers all around the world. Unfortunately I have not been
able to update the site much over the last year due to many new changes
in my life. I am looking forward to dedicating more time to this site
in 2009, and providing you with even more information to help you plan
your trips to Europe. Given the state of the
economies in nations across the world, it is even more
important to travel on a budget. Saving a little bit of money can go a
long way. From a U.S. perspective, our currently is very weak at this
point, so making that dollar stretch far can mean the difference
between going on vacation, and not. As part of the revamp, I am
planning a full update of the Hostels section to remove old links, and
add new locations.
News January 2009:
The Travel Books section has just been updated with some great new
travel books for 2009. I have included links to Amazon.com which
provides a very secure website with great shipping times. I will be
adding some new sections here very shortly for maps, language guides,
etc. I have also updated the Travel Gear section
with several new internal frame backpacks that have solid construction
for long trips abroad. If you are planning to backpack, you will spend
a lot of time with your pack, so it is important to have a good quality
backpack that fits well and can hold heavy loads.
Featured European Travel Videos
Our featured videos for the month of January are 2 clips from different
backpackers
vacations to London, England and Venice, Italy. These are 2
destinations I recommend for any backpacker. London has a special royal
charm that no other city in the world has. This was once the capital of
an empire on which the "sun never set". It is also an excellent spot
for clubbing and pub crawling. The best pubs in the world can be found
in England, and more specifically London. If you enjoy clubbing, the Ministry of Sound is known worldwide for its top performing techno/dance acts. Venice in contrast is an
amazing city with roots stretching back to the Roman Empire. This city
was created as a refuge from the barbarians that invaded italy, and now
is home to some of the most amazing architecture in the world. This
city has sunk and rison more times than I can count, yet it still
remains intact.
